Community Woodland Project
A £43,000 bid has been submitted to the Forestry Commission to fund the creation of a 15-acre community woodland in Hathern.
We've been working with Charnwood Borough Council, and in particular our Borough Councillors, Keith Harris & Emma Ward, on the project which could see around 15,000 trees planted on the council-owned land near Golden Square.
Local residents will be able to get involved by helping with the planning and creation of the woodland and the project could provide a range of benefits through outdoor activities including footpaths and nature trails.
It's hoped we'll find out if the bid is successful by the end of this year and work on the new woodland could start from autumn 2021.Read all about it: https://bit.ly/35m0vgE
