Hathern Parish Council
Strategic Plan: 2011 – 2015

1. Cleaner neighbourhoods

Aim : Improve the cleanliness and tidiness of the parish. Lobby

and work with responsible bodies where necessary.

Proposals are :

a. Continue to work to improve street cleaning and reduce litter

2. Enhancing village street design

Aim : Create a sense of pride and identity in the village by enhancing the architectural unity of village streets and public spaces using decorative and functional street furniture together with planting schemes.

Proposals are :

a. Improve visual impact of approaches to village

b. Replace and provide better signage, public seating, planting etc

c. Work to “declutter” street scene by getting unnecessary signage removed

3. Improving HPC's facilities in the village

Aim : Continue to improve and maintain our sites and their access.

Develop the amenities provided for users, working in collaboration with

others where appropriate. Ensure areas are safe and secure.

Proposals are :

a. Continue to implement our strategy to manage the natural environment of our Park and sports ground.

b. Extend and improve parking for sports ground (Hathern Band & Hathern FC) where possible

c. Provide/improve facilities for the children and young people of the village

4. Making our roads safer

Aim : By working with other organisations make our village roads safer for residents and other users. Proposals are :

a. Work to improve safety of pedestrian and cyclist using the cycle way through Hathern

b. Continue close liaison with Police re road and pedestrian safety

5. Crime Prevention

Aim : Work with relevant organisations to help prevent crime and enhance the security of our community.

Proposals are :

a. Provide information to villagers on security and crime prevention

b. Continue close liaison with Police re crime prevention

6. Better Communication

Aim : Improve how the Council communicates with residents and how it establishes community concerns and needs.

Proposals are :

a. Continue to provide a regular HPC Newsletter that is distributed to all homes.

7. Community Cohesion

Aim : To support and encourage a strong sense of community and community values. Proposals are :

a. Help catalyse new community groups and community led projects by continuing to fund the Small Grant Scheme.
